On 4th & 5th October, Survey Research Methods and Application Academic Conference 2018 was held in Research Center for Humanities and Social Science (RCHS), which was co-organized by Center for Survey Research (CSR) in RCHS and Taiwan Institution for Governance Communication and Research (TIGCR).
In order to improve the quality of survey research, CSR has held Survey Research Methods and Applications Academic Conference every 2-3 years since the first conference in 1995. Now in its 13th conference, CSR collaborated again with TIGCR after TGC2018, which is a great significance to us for our first interdepartmental cooperation.
Chief Executive Officer of CSR and Vice Chief Executive Officer of TIGCR Professor Chang Ching-ching presided over the opening ceremony on the first day of the conference. The conference then began with the keynote speech - “Democratization of Artificial Intelligence in Taiwan” given by Professor Chen Kuan-Ta. There were six sections on the first conference day, which included “Survey Methodology Studies”, “Uses of Data”, “Network Analysis”, “Internet Survey”, “Survey Errors and Data Quality I” and “Survey Errors and Data Quality II”. Member of TIGCR Professor Yu Chen-Hua was invited as the host in “Survey Errors and Data Quality II” section.
On the second conference day, Chief Executive Officer of TIGCR Professor Huang Chi hosted the keynote speech - “National Health Insurance Information and Sampling Research” given by Professor Yue Ching-Syang in Statistic Department of NCCU and followed by two sections - “Sampling and Weighting”, and “Analytical Methodology and Application”. In “Sampling and Weighting” session, Vice CEO of TIGCR Professor Tsai Chia-Hung present the research findings about the weighting method of internet survey in topic of “Internet Survey Weighting: The Reference Survey Approach” with PhD. Researcher Tsai Chi-Lin in Political Department of NCCU. There were eight sections with 27 articles in total presented in this two-day conference.
