TIGCR Members Participated the International Conference of Asian Election Studies (AES 2018)

On October 26-27, TIGCR's Director Chi Huang and Associate Director Chia-hung Tsai with other TIGCR members, Ching-hsin Yu, Lu-huei Chen, Eric Chen-hua Yu, Nathan Batto and Tsung-han Tsai, participated the International Conference of Asian Election Studies (AES 2018) in Tokyo. The conference was hosted by Keio University.

On Social Media and Political Polarization: Professor Francis Lee’s Speech

Political polarization has become one of the most critical issues in Taiwan society recently. It is also the main research topic of TIGCR (Taiwan Institute for Governance and Communication Research). TIGCR was pleased to have Professor Francis Lee, the Dean of School of Journalism and Communication, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) to visit TIGCR and deliver lecture at National Chengchi University (NCCU) on October 24.

Sociologist Collaborated Facebook to Open up New Dimension under Threats of Privacy Crisis

Taiwan Institute for Governance and Communication Research (TIGCR), Taiwan Studies Center, and Election Study Center (ESC) jointly invited Professor Nathaniel Persily of Stanford Law School to NCCU to deliver lecture and attend the forum. The subject of the lecture is “Can democracy survive internet?”, which is about the phenomenon of ubiquitous fake new and bots existing in election periods, and how echo chamber may affect democracy.

A Marriage of Tradition and Innovation: VR Opens a New Visual World to Exploration

On June 22nd, the center invited Dr. Sun Joo (Grace) Ahn of the College of Journalism & Mass Communication at the University of Georgia, who is also founder and curator of the Games and Virtual Environments Lab there. Dr. Ahn attended a discussion at the center to share the results of her more than 10 years of research into how the experience of Virtual Reality has affected the attitudes and behaviors of people.
