Professor Louisa Ha Introduced the New Age of Online Survey

Thanks to the rapid development online network, researchers today are able to integrate the smart devices with online survey for collecting data. On 7th May, Taiwan Institute for Governance and Communication Research Center (TIGCR) are honored to invite the editor of Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, Professor Louisa Ha from Bowling Green University to deliver public speech titled “Research Method Development in Mobile and Online Surveys”. Ha shared her research insights with the perspective of mobile and online survey.

Professor Flew’s In-depth insights into Platformised Internet and Digital Governance

Nowadays, leading online platforms like Google, Facebook and Amazon bring people convenience, at the same time, cause serious problems such as personal data leaks and inappropriate contents dissemination. Governance on communication has always been one of the core research directions of Taiwan Institute for Governance and Communication Research (TIGCR). On April 7-11, TIGCR was honored to host Professor Terry Flew’s visit, the current President of International Communication Association (ICA) and Professor of Media and Communication in the Creative Industries Faculty at the Queensland University of Technology, Australia.

Caleb T. Carr’s talk on Politics, Social Media and MassPersonal Communication

TIGCR (Taiwan Institute for Governance and Communication Research) was pleased to have Professor, Caleb T. Carr, Associate Professor of Illinois State University to visit the center and talk with TIGCR members on December 14th. The talk started by Associate Director, Prof. Chia-hung Tsai to introduce TIGCR, and along with the main inviter, also one of the TIGCR members Prof. Jih-Hsuan Lin to summarize Carr’s past publications and research focus. With brief introduction, Carr then moved on to share issues on masspersonal communication.

Insightful Talk with Professor Aaron Shaw on The Phenomenon of Online Participation Inequality

In the oil of the digital era, online data is one of the most valuable assets to all the online platform and even to academic field. Using online data could be able to analyze the activities in online spaces. Taiwan Institute for Governance and Communication Research (TIGCR) was honor to invite Aaron Shaw, Assistant Professor of Department of Communication Studies, University of Northwestern to have a short discussion with our members about the online participation in United States on Nov 15. After the brief introduction and the operating situation of our center by TIGCR’s Director Chi Huang, Professor Shaw indicated that there are some overlaps between the research in TIGCR and his research and he is also looking forward to participate the international conference held by TIGCR next year.
