The TIGCR’s Face-to-Face Survey Officially Commenced on July 9th

The first wave of face-to-face panel interviews (TGC2018) of Taiwan Governance and Communication, a collaboration of the TIGCR and the Center for Survey Research at Academia Sinica, has been underway since July 9th of this year. The TIGCR is handling the four cities of Taipei, New Taipei City, Keelung, and Taoyuan; Yilan; and the Hualien-Taitung area. The Center for Survey Research is focusing on Hsinchu and Miaoli; Taichung, Changhua, and Nantou; Yunlin, Chiayi and Tainan as well as the Kaohsiung-Pingtung survey area. Households through Taiwan are being selected using address-based sampling.

The current series of panel interviews is scheduled to continue until the end of October, completing a total of 3,000 samples. Follow-up interviews will be conducted yearly to understand change and continuity in the political attitudes of the general public, policy evaluation, and communication behavior. TGC2018 is the chief undertaking of the center’s first year. In addition to the significance of establishing an integrated database system for the TGCR, this is the first time conducting a large-scale panel survey alongside another institute, affording us the opportunity to gain valuable experience in inter-departmental cooperation.
